Harmony Hall

Ahu Zhai (Harmony Hall), located in a hutong in Wangfujing, Beijing, is a renovated courtyard that houses part of Mr. Wang, owner’s antique collection and a large number of books related to Chinese archaeology. Ahu Zhai also houses a very lovely cat, and it was exactly the ‘purring’ sound it makes when feeling content that inspired the name ‘Ahu’ (a similar sound in Chinese for ‘purring’). Ahu Zhai was named and founded in 1994 by Xie Zhiliu (1910-1997), a contemporary Chinese painter, with the meaning to bring the master’s family harmony and happiness. This also inspires the English name of the website, Harmony Hall.

What We Do

Here we display the cherished antique collection in Harmony Hall over the years, covering ancient silk, paintings, porcelains from the two ‘Song’, ‘Yuan’ and ‘Ming’ dynasties. We hope to create a platform where collectors and the like-minded can exchange knowledge, where Chinese cultural relics are introduced, where the long history of Chinese culture are told.

We provide possible collaboration with world class museums for sharing and exhibition arrangement, and provide a Chinese antique collection exchange platform.
